KYB Monomax shocks - Anyone have them?

Has anyone tried the KYB Monomax shocks?

http://www.kyb.com/shocks/monomax.html

I'm going to be buying shocks soon and I'm trying to decide if I should be the first guy with these or just go with Bilsteins like everyone else...

I run the regular KYB Gas-A-justs and they've been great. Put over 60K on them on long road trips with no problems and done mild offroad/trail work with no complaints either.

I fell in love with KYB with my MKII Supra, so I bought a set of Monomax for my '95. I scored two from eBay for $50, and $100 for the other two online somewhere, which was a lot better than $360 locally.

Yes, I really like them, but haven't tried the billies to give you a comparison.

I had KYB shocks on an 80's Corolla I had and they were great. Same shocks they ran on the Toyota rally cars back then. They were very good which was why I got interested in the Monomax...

Are they super stiff? The reason I ask is I spend a lot more time running fast down rough roads than I do wheeling.

Stiff shocks aren't an advantage on surfaces like washboard stuff...

Well, got the Monomaxes on this morning and put about 60 or 70 miles on them. The T100 handles great. Very much improved. They are stiffer than stock and certainly stiffer than my old shocks with 125k miles on them. Thus, they do make certain road surfaces more known than before...although this is not overbearing or unacceptable. The benefits outweigh the detriments.

Washboards might be a bit tough on you with these if you run them all the time.

Update

I really liking the KYBs. The T handles great. I have much more confidence in cornering than before. Ride is completely acceptable. Yet to have it off-road with them, but it will be soon.

I recommend these shocks!
