1st gen 4runner fuel pump help!!

I'm in the middle of replacing my fuel pump, but I'm stuck. How do I disconnect the wires that are connected to the round cap on the fuel tank? I've got all 3 hoses disconnected, but I don't have enough slack the lift out the fuel pump without disconnecting the wires too? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Am I missing something? The wires seem like they are permanently on the round cap...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f128...-years-156128/ Click on the link. Download the fsm by right clicking on one of the 85 links and left click SAVE LINK AS. When finished go to pg 214 for fuel pump there should be a plug for the wires as shown in description.

The wires seem to be riveted to the round cover on the fuel tank. Is this possible? I'll try to get some pics up today so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

You can jack up the passenger side and get to the plug through the wheel well, that's the best way I have found, it kinda lays on the seam of the tank

I see what you are saying now. There is a plug for the wires that I can't see through the trap door under the rear seat?

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
Follow the wire back and see if there's a small stamped metal clip that the wire goes into then you form the metal around it like a twist tie to hold it out of the way.

Find that and take it out to get you some slack... But try and find the weather connector.

Any wires riveted in you don't need to remove anyway???
