how fast can you go in 4H and 4L? thanks

 

4Hi is basically whatever the speed limit is.4Lo is different,check your owners manual.

 

i kinda laughed when i read this, i can barely get my truck up to 70 as it is let alone in 4hi. 4lo, i agree to check manual other then that i dont think you will get up to 70 in lo, i guess i never tried.

 

I can get up to about 40 in 5th...

 

Somethings wrong if you can not go 70.... I can cruise at 75+ all day long.

 

So can I,actually can cruise at 80 or 85 in 5th.

 

it might be my bushings that need lubing or my drivesline needs to be greased.

i can do 35 in 4h with no issues. once i hit 40+ it starts to vibrate a little and makes a noise. i just recently repacked the bearings and that helped a little. still need to make the spindle lubing tool and see how it goes

 

Any problems in 2wd? Could be worn u-joints up front.

 

no problems in 2wd at all.

parents are the original owner and now i am and its never been used in 4wd. only time it was used in 4wd was on a flat farm when i was younger (10 years ago) just driving around in circles. no more than 100 miles if that. recently (2weeks ago) i used 4wd to go snowboarding and it had no problems. speed limit was only 35 so it had no issues. couple of spots was a nice straight away with no snow so i went faster and felt the front end vibrate

Front end might need a rebuild, but I would check the u-joints first. I've been on the freeway going 65 in 4wd before when road conditions were slick. And my truck sees 50mph in 4wd after every snow storm, till I catch up to traffic

 

what would be consider front end? diff?

 

I consider the front end everything from the t-case output to the wheels.

First off, do both of your tires spin freely with the front end jacked up? With the hubs Locked? Does the driveshaft spin freely? Freeplay? Just start with the simple things.

 

Hubs, wheel bearings, axle birfields, diff fluid, drive shaft.

 

i see. ill start with lubing the bushings, diff flush and greasing all the driveshafts. already repacked the bearings which helped.

 

i made 40 in 4L, 5th gear, and alot of RPMS.

 

im not really worry bout how fast i can go in 4L or even 4H. i wasnt sure if the shaking was due to going to fast in 4H or it was due to something wrong with my runner. i know now that 4H can go as fast as you can n it shouldnt have any issues. i now need to start with the little stuff and go from there to get my ride up to spec
