HID Light options for 1st Gen 4-runner?

Has anyone put HID head lamps in a first gen 4-runner? I am currently restoring an 1987 4-runner and would like to upgrade the lighting.

I did search and did not find anything that was for a 1st gen.

Hang on, see if I can find the thread. Sigeprunner did it I think.

Found it.

Looks like you have to buy the "diamond cut" h4 housings on ebay to put the projectors in, some kits come with projectors and halogens, some with HID and ballasts. I would like to do this, but money stands in the way for now.

The 1st gens all use sealed beams, in the USA at least.
To do HID, you'll need to find replacement housings that fit the 6054 shape and accept replaceable bulbs, are DOT legal (in the USA), then find the appropriate replacement HID setup, or find an HID setup that includes 6054 housings.

The lights in the link are the same ones that would work in a 1st gen.

... providing the stock 6054 sealed beam headlamps are replaced with housings that accept replaceable bulbs, like I said, and you said in your first reply.

I've got replaceable bulbs in my 88, but not HID- just basic off-the-shelf silverstars and I like.

You can see the bulb pattern on the ground-

and with high beams (the marker lighting up near the middle of the screen is about 1/2 mile away):

sorry for the 'grainy' pics but the camera was set to 'automatic' with flash disabled.

I think it's inevitable in the whole process. It would be better then halogenetic disorder.
