Pelley's 1991 Pickup Build Up Thread

Hello, Been following here for years and love the website and everyones Rigs. I'm from Newfoundland Canada and am 18 years old buildng a 1991 Toyota Pickup. I'm attending school doing Truck And Transport Service Technician, On The weekends when i head home this is my personal project. After having a 88 Toyota with a 3" BL on 33's that was Stolen and beat up on me one night i decided to build my dream toyota no matter how long it takes.

I have a Trail Gear SAS kit with 5"HD Springs, 36" Super Swamper TSL's, 3" Body lift, Rock Rings, Dust Sheild Delete, Rear Diff Guard, Custom push bar and rear bumper, Roll bar and i will be making a Flat Deck. I decided this build after Seeing "The Great White Shark" - It aloud me to see everything and to tackle it myself, Thanks big guy to D who done it!!!!

It all starts here, I bought a 85 4 Runner completly rusted through as its been parked for years with a perfect straight axle - $50 and it was mine. Tipped it on its side and stripped it out!

Out and home:

Stripped down with Support welded in and Diff guard welded on, Ready for paint:

Ready to start assembly:

All together: Decided to run a rear V6 Third at the last moment - Yes i will paint it.

Now to the truck, Note the fender is how i will be painting the truck in the end. Last shot of control arms ever in my truck:

Front shot:

Unbolting and just using a grinder isnt Fun but i did it:

Sorry guys thought my topic was deleted but it was moved. The cost of the build i'm unsure of, As i go i buy parts. I purchased the SAS kit from a guy who bought it and backed out of the install - All brand new in box for a few hundred less!! I purchased the tires with little use also. I'm buying a Aussie locker next week also to help out. One piece at a time i will build the truck, Due to a budget i'm taking my time.

All Cut out:

Cleaned up with Motor mount plate welded in:

The Truck:

The start of the install:

Hanging it up:

Now to the Rear - New Leaf Spring brackets for the longer springs:

Clear out the old:

Leafs Hung:

Rear Mocked up for driveshaft angle:

Close up of rolling the axle:

Almost forgot the tires: 36" Super Swamper TSL's X 12.50 Wide on a 15" american racing rim:

I have been building it now for the past 5-6 months every few weekends, Truck is at my parents house and i dont get home much especially in the winter. I started the tear down to replace the head gaskets + all seals and gaskets about a month ago and havnt bene home sence. I will take some pictures this weekend of that part.

Called Trail Gear today to order some 5.29's for front and rear after doing alot of research this is one of the best driveline modifications going hand in hand with the SAS.

Due to the amount of Salt used here on our roads most toyota's here are very rusty..My floor was no exception and heres some pictures of the drivers side done.

I purchased knowing floor was bad so here is the inside removing seats aswell carpet i will never have in my off road truck!!!

Cant wait to remove Carpet!

First look not too bad:

Turned into alittle more area than i hoped:

Bottom Plate in:

The top, Alittle grinding then rocker coating top and bottom:
