I'm parting out a 91 pickup and I cannot get the front tires to budge. I don't care about breaking I just need to get these tires off. I have been soaking them in liquid wrench and they won't even come loose. I have tried dropping the truck off the jack and kicking the tires and even hitting them with a sludge hammer. They won't come loose. I can't try driving it with the nuts loose because I have no engine in the truck.

Is there something special I need to doo to get these off.. I have auto hubs if that makes any difference.

Puts some liquid wrench and then let it sit for 20 min. Then use a breaker bar on them. Are they rusted?

 

my fronts were rusted on when i got it....idk how long it had been since it had a rotation but they was rusted on GOOD (well..just the driverside front.)

i hit on the back of it with a 5lb sledge hammer...it came off after a BUNCH of hits. lol

 

There is like no room to use a breaker bar. They are aluminum. And yes they are oxidized

pb blaster, then a breaker bar with a long a$$ piece of steel pipe for more leverage. worked on my old ford tractor lol.

 

He sounds like he has the lug nuts loose, just having issues because the wheel itself is corroded on. no need for a breaker bar. maybe a pry bar but the best bet is to just hit it with a large sledge.

 

use coca cola classic. Better than that PB blaster crap

 

if it's not working you need a bigger sledge. 16lb???? or just bomb it.

 

I hit it with a sledge for like 4 hours with no budge. I even wrapped a wratched strap to it and connected it to my forklift to try and get it off but it didn't move. I need this tire off asap. I'm gonna try again tomorrow with the prybar I just bought. Hopefilly it works better.

A big gear puller might work but I have no idea where around here to get one

if the nuts are frozen on use an extension at least a half inch drive and the proper impact socket and either use an impact gun or a breaker bar and if you need to a cheeter pipe just be carfull and don't hurt yourself ive busted a 2 inch bolt (i was the straw that broke the camels back) and hit myself in the chect with a 4 foot long wrench and well it hurt. allot.

but if the wheel is seized onto the hub. then i would put the lug nuts back on finger tight at least 3 or 4 of them. then jack up the corner and drop it quickly obviously making sure no one or any part of you is underneath it and it should jar the wheel loose. or else um maybe a hi lift jack and some chains pulling out from the center of the hub against the wheel haha

 

leave at least one nut on loosely on rim.. just thread it on far enough to keep the wheel from flying off when it goes. soak up anywhere the rim touches the hub. Also rotate the wheel as you hit it.

 

If a hammer doesn't get it off, the hammer isn't big enough.

 

Wait.. Is he talking about the lugs being frozen on? Or the actual rim?
