Recent camp/trout fishing trip

This was a couple of weeks ago, the first major winter blast. We had to stay in the park, because there was no primitive camping areas. There were only four other sites being used. Heber Springs, AR.

The river is behind my border collie that loves to go winter camping.

My bro Jim getting the food going. A great chef!!!!! He can do wonders with nothing.

we were fishing about 400 yards below the dam.

Getting ready to grill trout.

getting ready to cook in the dutch ovens.

And this is what we woke up to the next morning. 1'' of snow on our bags. we sleep on cots out in the open. I rolled over and my face was in the snow. It was like WTF! Grabbed my flashlight, and what a sight. SNOW!! Front moved in a day early.

We had to leave that afternoon, or we would have been iced in for a couple of days. A great trip, but the temps only dropped down to 15 degrees.

Thanks for looking.

Great pics!
Nothing like cooking and eating outdoors too.
The food just tastes better.

It is just a little far for us to drive. Heber is 5 hours. We used to go to Albert Pike but, now they don't have a low water bridge to hold the trout. They put a regular bridge in and the fish just go down stream when they are dumped.

Nothing like cakes, biscuts, or cobblers in a dutch oven.

BBP, A testament to our sleeping bags, the snow wasn't melting that had fallen on them.

Your lucky to be gettin out on the rivers at this time of the year, i cant wait for the ice to free up and the snow to melt up here. last week me and a few of the boys went out ice fishing, the lake had about 14" of ice, cold and no fish!
