Look I found my ADD actuator

I think I know what this is, but I want to be sure. I think it is part of the ADD system, but what do you guys think? (low center of the first pic, with wires in front of it)

this is the front of it

You can't just copy them off your hard drive, since we don't have a way to access your hard drive

Upload them to Photobucket, then post them.

Thanks. Is there a way I can upload them to the site, I have tried putting albums together, but it says there is a security token missing, so my request could not be processed. I asked Cory about it a while ago, but nothing has happened. Just wondering.

Not sure about your question, but make a PHOTOBUCKET account and post pics from there.

Honestly, I have no idea what the specifics are regarding setting up albums.

I always just upload to photobucket and go from there.

My dad said something about it kinda lookin like an e-locker set-up, but he said it probably wasn't, and i agree with the second part of that. It looks more like the electronics for the ADD.

so, once i convert to manual hubs, I will need to run a vacuum line to this, and that will keep it engaged all of the time?? and without the hubs locked, this is ok to do right?

Leave it as is. It will engage when you put it in 4wd and disengage when you take it out of 4wd.

I have heard that at times ADD will randomly disengage, and even though you have your rig in 4wd and hubs locked, your front tires aren't pulling at all. Anybody ever had this happen or heard of this? I know that there are some people who have done the mod, just wondering if I need to or not, and why?

My ADD system with manual hubs installed has been working great. I am not planning on messing with the vacuum setup. I haven't ever heard of ADD just disengaging. The auto-hubs have problems with that. Maybe that is what you are thinking of? They are two completely different products.

not sure, just going by what I have heard. I haven't had any problems so far, but Manual hubs are close to the top of the list for me, and I wanted to be sure that they were compatible with ADD.

Yeah. If you have ADD the manual hubs will bolt right up. Good upgrade. I love being able to unlock my hubs for freeway travel.

There is a writeup on 4x4wire.com about defeating the ADD system. You just take that unit out, slide the fork over to engaged, lock it with a small hose clamp and then remount it. I did it to simplify my 4x4 system so i don;t have to worry about a vacuum leak causing me to lose my 4x4 ability. Also lets you get some crap out of your engine bay
