Replace transmission input shaft bearing

It appears I have a bad input shaft bearing on my '88 4Runner with a W56 transmission. I've seen several posts stating these can be replaced without disassembling the transmission. Can someone tell me how to approach this? I have no problem dropping the transmission, just need to know what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When the tranny is out post back. There's a cover inside the bell housing that is shaped like a figure 8.Take it off and the shaft may come out the front. Can't remember.I've built many trannys that the input shaft will not come out the front. Before you tear it apart make sure the clutch bearing is good.Don't see too many input bearings go bad.
