has anyone noticed that? my buddy's taco sounds a little throatier than my runner and they are both stock. do they have different mufflers?

Where does the exhaust dump out on the taco? I have a 91 p/u that sounds like a v8 cuz it dumps right over the rear axle, but the runner with the same setup dont sound half as good cuz it comes out behind the drivers rear tire...no reverberation out there....

4 runner has a more restricted exhaust system to make it quieter than a tacoma

Different year models could also have different emission controls.
Other than that since the 4runner is a passenger vehicle I would imagine that toyota put effort in to making the 4runner quieter for a more enjoyable riding experience
