Just wondering, is there such a thing as a 1999 or 2000 Limited 4Runner w/ the Rear Diff Locker?

Or would all 99-00 Limiteds (with that button next to the dimmer) be for a center diff lock? I'm curious since I think that those years on Limiteds came w/ Multimode AWD--so maybe a button there is for the center diff lock?

It'd be great if someone can comment that actually has a 99-00 Limited w/ the Rear Diff Lock.

 

seen a 2000 limited on craigslist with a locker so yea its possible the button for the center diff lock i believe is on the 4wd selector

 

i just acquired a 2000 4runner Limited, automatic, with rear locker and selectable 4wd.

 

1999 4runner limited is AWD

with the ability to become 2wd with a button press

with the ability to become part time 4wd with a lever throw

with a rear diff lock with a button press while in part time 4wd low

 

More precisely:

1999 4Runner Limited
- 2wd becomes AWD with push of button (located on the side of the transfer case shifter). Can be engaged for use at any speed and on dry pavement.
- full time selectable high or low 4wd by throwing transfer case shifter. Not for use on dry pavement. 4high can be engaged at speeds up to around 40 mph (pls confirm w owners manual). 4low engaged from stop.
- push button electric rear diff locker available when in full time 4low. Rear diff lock available only at very slow speed. See owners manual.

Most of the Limiteds here in Colorado seem to have the rear locker and only the Limiteds in '99-00 had the multi mode auto.

Diff lock is in the same place on all such equipped models.

 

Curious...what does the "RR" stand for?

also if your looking at pics and cant tell if thats a locker button or not good chance there will be a warning sticker on the drivers door

I have a 99' Limited 4WD with locker. Just do the grey wire mod and you can use the locker in 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo.
