time to spray can the rear license plate holder with flat black. mines was peeling


once removed, i stared removing the emblem...


slowly but surely..let the blade and flat head do its job...

how it looks underneath


stuff already had. flat black from Home Depot and Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, this stuff works great. used to spray this on lowered front bumpers before painting it. helps paint chip from rock chips tremendously

sand it down with 400 grit. first light coat...

2nd coat then 3rd is final. no drips


should have it all installed by tomorrow

^well, it did get pushed in from behind so that might has something to do with it...but yah I'm going to recheck it tomorrow.

my fingers is itching to do that! would paint the rims too except I only have a pair. got myself some LC rims so those are going on next. just need tires. 245,255/75/16 or 285/75/16 decisions , decisions

 

That looks awesome dude! Yeah you HAVE to do that wheel well trim now, I love the black and the white! Black emblems maybe after? I just put my top circle logo and the SR5 logo back on my truck today, the black looks so much better than the previous gold color. I can't wait to get my other things painted!

I might just remove the trim... also, I have a small issue with the rear spoiler. Screws on top are off but its still not off. clips? screws underneath? no access under there.

*fixed* just remove the spoiler. extra screw inside.

How did you get the 4Runner emblem back on? Are those holes underneath wear it was for screws?

 

the holes are prob just for lining the emblem i believe... I just put a dab of j-b weld on the sticky icky icky.

 

Did you sand down the dark gray lining on the top of the back bumper that's over all the chrome?

There are some things worth mentioning to everyone if they plan to "de-chrome" their rig:

1) For the love please wear a good respirator when sanding chrome. Chrome has some serious "nasties" that would just love to tear up your lung tissue.

2) Hand scuff, wipe clean and use a good etching primer to promote adhesion.

3) Use a quality paint, not the $0.99 junk that will last a month.

4) If you want to end up with flat black in the end, be sure to use a flat clearcoat (or it will just end up glossy).

how is the paint holding up with no clear????? im a retard i gues i my eyes skipped over the picture that clearly shows the dented bumper.

 

what gray lining? I painted the whole bumper.
