Talking Halloween Snow Bashing

A little late, but better than never!

I took the 4Runner out on Halloween for a little snow bashing. I hit up some of the higher mountain passes, since I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do so. I started up at Sts.John ...

Past the town and getting deeper

The end of the trail for me, the snow was getting too deep and it was too steep to make much progress. I could have broke out the winch, but it seemed like more effort than it was worth.

Next trail, Webster Pass...

I was up there the weekend before this and only made it to the second switchback, so I wasn't planning on making it too far.

Right before the river crossing

First big snow drift!

Breaking trail uphill towards the switchbacks

Next up was the Peru Creek area...

I was in 4 High at about 30 mph when I hit a deep snow drift and sank! It was the first time I got stuck all day and I had to break out the shovel.

I finally got unstuck and played around a bit before heading home!

Wicked pics DirtCO. I can't believe we saw you in September coming back off webster and we didn't get to stop. (Lame)

Yeah I was hoping to make it up to the end of Hall Valley still but the fact that you couldn't get much past the creek on the west side of webster pass says that the snow is now too deep at 10,800 feet.

Thanks! I was test driving the 4Runner and I came back down 10-15 minutes after I passed you guy's. I was going to stop and say hi, but I didn't see you again.

The snow is really starting to build up around treeline, I think most of the higher trails are about done for the season. I did make some good progress up the Swan drainage area around Breckenridge on Sunday.
