I've only had my '96 Limited for a month or so. It had a sound system, and a bunch of hack job wiring for some dumb interior underseat lighting, a bluetooth connectivity, there's an ethernet wire for something, and some other crap. I traced, cut and pulled out all the wiring for the stuff I took out, so there's not much aftermarket stuff left anymore.

But, ever since I first got it, it makes an intermittant buzzing sound under the hood. I first thought it was due to wiring issues, but I'm pretty sure it's not. It sounds like a trapped bee. Like a zzzzz......zzzz.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Completely random, and only when the truck is off. It sounds like it's coming from the area between the intake manifold and the main fuse box.


Help??

 

charcoal canister ? there know to make buzzing sounds

 

Search "evap canister noise" or "charcoal canister buzzing". Mine did this and there is a $25 part to fix it which (as far as I know) has been discontinued. TRDparts4U (that's their YT screenname) found me one and it fixed the buzzing. The noise is caused by escaping fumes from the gas tank as far as I understand.
