Ford Taurus 3.8L V6 Fans Cheap~WA

I was at the Pick your Part in Lynnwood WA today with a buddy that was looking for one for his 94 Dodge Dakota, and there was a whole bunch of them there! I picked up a spare and he picked up a pair and the best part was the price- $15.79 with tax. I paid $32.00 at the nearby Best Auto Parts auto dismantlers when was looking for one for my truck and there were none at the Pick your part that day. The difference was that none of the cars that we found the fans in were new enough to have the circuit breakers on the wire harness. The one in my truck came from a 95 Mercury Sable if that makes a difference.

-Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable/Lincoln MKVII with 3.8L V6
-3-wire connector (BLK/BLU(hi-speed)/BRN-ORN(low speed)
-One nut on driver side next to radiator top hose and one bolt on passenger side near top to remove

Just out of curiousity, do you have any idea what type of thermostat the Taurus/Sable uses for the fan? I'm guessing it's run off of the sensor in the block, but if it's separate, that might be another part to pick up when I finally get my fan.

And Thanks for all of the info you've provided so far!

I have no idea about the temp sensor that Ford uses. I used a Hayden 185* fixed temperature switch for mine.

I got mine at Pep Boys for like $29.99 I went through 2 of the adjustable ones before settling on a fixed temp one. I also have the thing wired to the fuse box "IGN" fuse so that it can only turn on when the key is in the "ON"position.

Oh yeah seafariman, one more thing. Are you running a lower temp thermostat. From the info I found that non-adjustable switch comes on at 180-185 and shuts off at 170. I dont know for sure what my thermo is but Im assuming about 190. Do you think that the truck will cool off enough going down the road for the fan to kick off? Any ideas I would appreciate, thanks Derek

I replaced my thermostat with a 180* one since my truck likes to get real hot real fast. I figured that a 12* cooler one would be a big help, and it works great.
