Did the cluster with the tach come in the 4runner, or did you swap out the regular cluster for the one with the tach?

the '86 & '87 SR5 gauge clusters were known for screwy operation.
I had the same problem with mine. it would just bounce all over the place. imagine my reaction the first time I saw it peg out out of the blue! I installed an aftermarket one.

you can get one of Jeff Moskovitz's gauge cluster pillars to install it in. These look pretty cool.

I ordered the Auto Meter temp gauge from Summit Racing
Here are a few 2 1/16" ones to pick from. Comes with the sender. Pretty easy to install. Just threads into one of the plugged ports on the stock manifold.

The gauge I bought came with both green and red sleeves to match dash lighting.

Here's mine with my A/F meter in it and my Auto Meter temp gauge below.

Hey,
i have this problem also.
As a disclaimer, I'm a newbie.
Wondering if you fixed this and how. Maybe any tips for my job.
I was also thinking aftermarket gauge. How did you mount yours if you used one?
