bumpers, bumpers, bumpers... for a 3rd gen PU

Hey fellas

So I've decided to keep my 91 PU for a while now instead of selling it

so now that the motor's done and running good, it's time to start putting money in other places on it

looking into bumpers now (front AND rear, and maybe even sliders), and I'm looking to get some opinions from people who have installed and ran these bumpers before

For the front, I'm looking at either the Addicted Off Road stingerless bumper, or the All-Pro double tube. Right now, the Addicted Off Road bumper is the preferrence. But I'd like to hear some pros and cons about either from people that are personaly experienced with them. Photos will be good too

For the rear, I'm looking at either Addicted Off Road again, or Marlin Crawler, with no real preferrence between the two (unless Addicted will give me a combo deal ordering both at the same time lol). Same here, I'd like to hear some pros and cons about them from people with personal experience; and of coarse, photos are welcome

Looking to get 'er protected up, putting a winch on the new front bumper, then throw in some 4.88's and lockers, get another few inches of ground clearance, installing some 33's, and we'll be ready to rock!

and if time and money permits, MAYBE dual t-cases in the future

thanks!

No experience with either of those, I am really glad that you decided to keep the truck, I think it made us all sad to see you sell it.

4wheelparts was having a 25% off sale today and they have a store in town so I bought an ARB today for my 91. It was more than I wanted to spend but with as many deer I hit every year I bet it pays for itself very soon.

Geeeeez dude, my haven't we come around! LOL!!!

Go for the AOR bumper, theres no "cons" about it. It will bolt on and line up, no issues. I would go with the stinger, though. It's not that crazy, pretty mild for a stinger.

BAM!!

It's pulled, winched and yanked. No issues.

I would have to say go with the AOR's front and rear. Neither one of my MC bumpers would bolt on without a lot of prying and crap. I wish I never would have bought them.

This is all good information. I will definitely refer to this thread when thinking of front bumper designs for my own truck

I too had fitment issues with my front and rear MC bumpers on the 92 4Runner. On the other hand, I've heard nothing but good things about Scotty's bumpers. He uses the TG winch mount, just like I did on my 87, and it fits great. Glad to hear you are keeping the truck. It's hard to let go of something you've worked so hard on.

I have a modified all pro for the front. It is single bar version but it was hands down the easiest aftermarket item i have ever installed. All the holes lined up perfectly and is a very solid product. I was very impressed.

Now i have a marlin crawler rear bumper which is a great product as well, but i did have a little trouble getting it all mounted up and allinged.

Ive got marlin gear front and rear

Love it, the only thing I would change is adding a reinforcment plate to the front of the frame where the bumper mounts. Even with 8 mounts with heavy winching/recovery the bumper still might pull out of the frame....

I love it though! Had a 1st gen 4runner come up to me the other day askin questions bout the front bumper

yeah i agree with camo on that the badlands bumpers are sick IMO. but i have a MC front bumper with no stinger, yeah i had to do some modifying but it was also at my house the next day... so i thought that was a good plus in my book.

honestly, even I would put a badland front bumper on my truck. but thats ONLY if I couldn't get a warn or ARB bumper. i'd shoot myself before I bought a rear tubed bumper...

phew, Badland's are hella $$$! lol

the only one that catches my eye on their sight is the flat-top version...

I'm not too much for the stinger; never was, and I don't want one on my bumper

I don't think that it looks bad, it's just not for me

so far it's looking like the AOR front and rear though

keep the feedback and pics coming guys!

Thanks!

When you say 'modified' are you talking about the stinger and bars infront of the lights? If so, did you add that yourself? Because it looks great.

Thanks. Yeah the stinger and side bars were added to the stock all pro. There was also a side support that was welded to the frame and up to the back tip of the bumper. Unfortunatally i cant take the credit for those mods. At that time i did not have the tools or know how to weld at the time. I had a local 4 wheel drive shop do the modifications.
