does anyone know if downey made only one model of header for the 3vze for a truck or 4runner. or are they different depending on the year of the vehicle?
im asking because i found a pair for sale but the person selling them said it was only for a 1st gen truck or 4runner with the 3.0. i have a 2nd gen 4runner. and of course Downeys website is now gone so i coudlnt check.

 

3.0 is a 3.0... I dont think it'll matter. I just put Doug thorley headers on my 3vze... and it said they are to fit 88-95. 3vzes.

 

yeah i just checked doug thorley and lc engineering and it was the same from 88 to 93 for all trucks and 4 runners. thanks for the input tho it helps put my mind to rest

This is one of my future mods. Have you noticed a difference?

 

I have the Downey headers on my 1st gen. I did notice a difference when I put them on, but it is not neck snapping. Throttle response was better, it climbed hills a bit stronger. They do not turn the 3.0 into a 5.0, but, they help it out a bit. The first time I drove it I remember smiling and thinking, well, that was worth it.

Then I modified the gearing and put bigger tires on. Now I can't even remember how it all compares to stock.
