Trying to decide on suspension and others

I have an 87 4runner i am rebuilding from the ground up. The plan is for the runner to be an all around rig, able to handle long expeditions on the old logging and mining roads in BC, the cold snow of alaska, but also be efficient at crawling so no obstacle holds me up as many of these roads have not been touched for a long time.

I initially was going to swap in a solid axle in front and go with a 2 link with a panhard bar. Now i just came across Total Chaos's Gen 2 Caddy Kit, and am quite intrigued as to whether or not that would be better as my main travel is to and from locations.

I am also still at a toss up about which engine to place in my runner i want to be pushing at least 300hp with 400ft/lb of torque. I was thinking of going with a GM 350 performance engine from Jegs with the vortech supercharger.

If anyone knows the max possible power output for the 22RET if i could just modify that engine to give me around 200 - 250 hp with 300 ft/lbs i would be happy and probably less costly.

Any ideas/advice would be nice.

could just go with a 383 stroker if your wantin horsepower

to get the 22RET up to those levels...is not going to be cost efficient..yes it can be done (even easier with the 2.7L 3rz in the tacomas) but not for any kind of low price like it would cost to build a 350 or a similar v8 for some big horsepower

and personally i think a solid axle swap..with chromoly axles disc conversion on the rear..v6 brakes up front...5.29 gears with selectable lockers front and rear..with some 37in tires would be a good deal..of course if you go with a v8 then you wont need the 5.29's..

and just to have a better chance at NOT breaking anything with the v8 you would probably want to swap in some stronger axles like Dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear..of course you can shorten the axles that way they dont stick out a foot on each side..lmao

So i think i figured out the suspensions set up i am going to run the total chaos Caddy Gen 2 up front, with dual shocks. In the back i will use offroad solutions 4 link kit. For a rear axle i am thinking a Toyota 8" and will get a diamond plate cover. In front because i am keeping the IFS i will just keep a spare set of T100 axles if they snap so i can fix on trail.

Engine i am thinking the 3.4L and maybe install a turbo and cooler, with a 2.5 inch exhaust running our in front of the rear tire. I will also be trying to do a lift on the engine and transfer case to tuck everything up between the rails.

As for the body i am getting panels from toyota fiberglass and plan to build a tubular rear bumper, and a front bumper. As well have a exo - skeleton frame.

Running on 37" X 10.5" beadlocks.

what do you think
