There's a guy... U.S. military guy (Army, i think) .. stationed in Japan who digs these out of junkyards over there. I was wandering eBay one day and saw one that matched my grey interior so I bought it $75 shipped to my door. Do an eBay search of "Altimeter" or "Tilt Gauge".

I cut off the bottom molding (for left-hand drive) and attached two suction cups (angled slightly to the driver's side) to the bottom and wired it into my heater control light through my windshield defroster (see the attached picture...the plastic plug-in is tucked just underneath the gauge). It's the best mod I've done. I thought it was gonna be too big/obtrusive for my dash but it turned out to be just the perfect size. I can unplug and remove it if I need to, and the backlight is the same color and adjustable with the rest of my dash lights.

You can see the pictures of it in my profile album. I'll post a night pic where it is all lit up! And I'll try to find you the eBay SN of the guy. He posts some unique Toyota finds, such as the Toyota fog lights with the automatic retractable covers (yeah I want 'em!)
