96 Tacoma help.

I just got my 96 2.7 ltr tacoma. I was trying to check out the air filter but couldnt get the cover off all the way so just put it back on later on after starting it up CEL came on, 2 different autozones said it was a MAF code. Truck didnt have any problems until I did this. It feels bogged down and like its running too rich. Light is still on but havent drove it to many miles. Is this because of it not getting a good seal after I opened the air box (it now has a good seal) Please help I have been saving everything I have made for the last year to buy this and living on top romin. Thank you.

Use MAF cleaner - definitely not carb cleaner. You can reset the CEL by pulling off a battery terminal for about 5 minutes.

Should I take the whole intake system out or just undo the two screws? I have read horror stories about taking the two screws that are on the maf off.
