No, if your dad wants a truck then tell him to go buy one. (just my opinion).

I say go for it. Might be fun trying the conversion, never know what you will create. Plus it would be unique (hopefully a good unique)

My vote is don't do it!!! There's plenty of trucks out there if that's what you want. But with that said, it is your truck so do whatever makes you happy.

That's no joke about the cash for clunkers. I stopped by the toyota dealer down the street and there were two very nice 1st gen runners sitting off to the side with C4C written on the windshield.

If you really want to do this there is a correct way to go about it.

1) Locate and purchase a "Rear Seat Delete" plate. This was a factory option on first gen runners that replaced the rear seats with a bulkhead much like the front of the bed on a pickup.

2) Remove the rear seats and carpet.

3) Install the plate.

Now what you've done is created a pickup truck with a factory installed roll bar, camper top and custom controlled rear window. You have also preserved a 1st gen runner that can easily be converted back if you ever want to haul more people or sell it. Just be sure to store the seats and carpet away from rodents.

Enjoy.

I'll do some looking but can't promise anything. The firewall here blocks lots of web sites.

edit: This is the only thing I can access so far.
