roof rack on 95 4runner

i have a 1995 4runner that i purchased and doesn't have a roof rack. is it possible to install a stock rack onto it without too much fabrication? i have a thule set now but they clamp into the door jambs and if i get a basket then it would cover up the moon roof.

thanks for any help.

It is possible but very expensive. Afterthought roof rack installs are also known to leak if not done right. If it was me i would get someone to do it that will waranty their work.

Try body shops. They are cheaper than dealers and usually stand behind their work. You may have a hard time finding one to do it though.

What about baskets that mount where the factory roof racks go and don't block the sunroof?

uhhh... drag your butt to a junk yard and remove the roof rack from a wreck. I believe it should be a matter of a couple of holes. do some searching on the subject. There are plenty of other threads about it already.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...f-rack-145998/ ... for one...

oh, you can also shell out the hundred-and-some-odd-bucks for the Yakima 54" tracks, part #8001127.

match them rails with a load warrior basket. You can keep those over the rear. Again, do some searching - there are PLENTY of threads not only on Yakima Load Warriors, but on any flavor of roof basket for our rigs.

Factory roof rack.

I bought one for $50, gonna install soon.

Drill your holes, pop in rubber well-nuts and screw your bolts in. Done!

$50? Must be a BC thing. I got mine at the local Pick 'n' Pull for $16.99.

There are 8 bolts, if memory serves, and like Jay said, drill some holes and use nutserts or rivnuts http://www.enfasco.com/frame4.htm (Google them) to fasten it to the roof. You might want to consider some silicone around the nutserts.
