Spare tire size???
Hey guys! ANY MORE OPINIONS??
I've recently bought larger diameter tires for my 98 4runner SR5 V6. I went from a 265/70/16 tire, to a 285/70/16 tire. I still have the 265 spare, and was wondering if I were to get a flat, would it be safe to run it until I get to a shop to fix my 285? I've been told by some, that it may mess up the diffs front and back, depending which end I put it on.
I've still got the smaller tires, that I plan on using as a winter set. So I don't really want to buy another spare tire and rim, for the summer.
Any info you guys can provide, would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It's not good to run 2 different sized tires on the same axle. But if you have to you should be alright for a short distance as long as you do not have a locker or AWD or if you are in 4wd. For you to be alright you have to have open diffs and be in 2wd. I would not run too long like that though. This is just my opinion, I have never done it.
