Higher Wattage Headlights vs headlight fuses & harness
I just recently ordered some Nokya headlights for my 1999 4runner. Just trying them out, bout 25 for a pair. But since they run at like 90/100W vs the stock lighting wattage at 35 i believe, would it be smart to upgrade my fuses on my headlights from 10 to around 20 or 25, or should i just get a heavier duty wiring harness upgrade, perhaps both... I don't want to risk burning up my wiring or causing any electrical problems. Thanks

Please do not just increase the amperage of the fuse. The fuse is designed to be the weak link if you increase the amperage of the fuse without doing the wires you will make the wires the weak link. When you do this you run the very real risk of overheating the wires and melting the sheathing. The first thing I would do is to increase the wire size. Then check your draw and increase the fuse if your draw is greater than the fuse can handle, but not to more than the wire is rated for. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy the increase in night vision.

You can do a quick voltage test at the back of the headlight (under load) and see if an upgrade is needed:

Been thinking of putting in some 80/100w in my 4R also. Just wondering how it will work with the Daytime running lights that we have here in Canada?. I know my old F150 after a few hours of driving with the 80/100w's the lights would start flashing and over heat the relay.
I would do HID's but they have alot of glare, and they are unrelaiable, the last thing I want is to be 100's of kms from anywhere and loose my lights, due to a bad ballast or bulb.
