I've had this problem for a while now, not really bugging me till today.
I noticed when i accelerate, the 4runner would kinda jerk back and fourth, pretty much sputtering, then go away, and i wont feel it again till a week later, sometimes longer. I really didnt pay attention as far as fixing the problem

I let the truck sit pretty much 3 days from friday till this afternoon. She started up with no problems, and about a mile away from home, she started sputtering and did it all the way up to work which is 6 miles from home. I felt she was gonna die on me, but i made it. Now i need to fix this, and hope i can make it home safe tonight

where to start?

When was the last time you did a tune up? Replace spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc.?

 

I would also check the fuel filter. If its got a lot of miles, as most of our trucks have, it probably needs one...regards.....Rick
