buzzing noise when 4runner is jacked up??

Hey guys, I am doing an oil change and while the front end is in the air. There is an intermitent buzz coming from somewhere near the master cylinder/ intake..? Not sure what it is but I am thinking it has something to do with it being jacked up? I do have an aftermarket alarm but I don't think this is the cause. It did stop after awhile but curious as to what it might be?

Oh ya....tell me if you guys have had this problem. After taking the drain plug out and letting the oil run out and into the catch pan. I left it for awhile to finish dripping. Stupid crap dripped onto the skid plate, ran towards the back of the vehicle and onto my nice clean garage floor!!!!!!! Boy was I MAD! Maybe I didn' have the truck high enough to prevent this but still.... How much higher do I need to go! It was at least 1 foot off..

Spend an extra five minutes and remove the skid plate when doing the old change. Can't help you with the buzzing noise...

oil dripping

Well I fixed the oil getting into the skid plate problem. I just used a piece of hose and stuck it in the drain hole. What doesn't go into the hose at least wicks down into the catch pan.

I hope someone has an idea about that buzzing/clicking noice?

If you stand in front of the truck, look to the right fender well, and you'll see a black box with two "bumps" on it mounted about 6" up the fender from the firewall. That's the source of the noise.

It's a charcoal canister that's part of the pollution control system. All of the 4Runners that have it, make the sound, and it'll continue for-EVER after you shut off your truck.

There's a replacement canister that supposedly doesn't wheeze like this, but I haven't bothered to replace mine.
