Finally got a project! (Betsy)

Hello all.

I used to frequent this site about 2 or 3 years ago but got out of it for a while. I'm so glad to be back and see this site has grown like crazy! Anyway Here is the reason I'm back.

Its a 1986 Toyota 4runner with the 22re and a 5-speed. I paid 25 bucks for it but it does not run right now. Its not getting fuel and I believe it could just be the pump. I also found out my brothers 2002 Tundra is not big enough to tow it with a tow dolly. Go figure. So we hooked a strap to it and towed it through downtown Madison, WI.

Then

Shes home!!! The P.O. tried to do this himself and may not be as mechanically inclined as he thought. He kept the battery since it was 7 years old and still working..... I told him to keep it. He also disconnected a bunch of wires..... BUT! There is some good news. He has a bunch of receipts the 22re has only 30k on the complete rebuild (new block and internals). I wanted to hear it run so we sprayed some brake-cleen in the intake and she fired without hesitation. She ticked right away but after not being run for 3 years it did pretty good. I want to change all the fluids and such.

I have never seen one of these topless in person so of course that was the next item on the board.

The plans right now are just to get it running. Then I don't know but id love a lift and or SAS. I would love input too and comments! I still cannot stop grinning from ear to ear. The problem is I am 200 miles away from it and work 60 plus hours a week. So progress will be slow but I assure you.. IT WILL HAPPEN!!! Here is some more pictures just for fun!

The picture above is the worst of the rust. Dang Midwest! I have all the parts too including the taillight

It also has a coventry conversions badgeplate on the interior. I am assuming its the 2 tone seats and interior.

Thanks guys and gals and WHEEL ON!

Nice Runner! Other than the rust damage, looks like its in good shape. Keep posting your progress. I'm a complete NOOB here, but welcome back!

should be able to tow it with a dolly just as easy as a tow strap i used to to a 22re runner with a 22re runner on my dolly.. and if my little 2.4 diesel can do it without puffing black smoke a gas v8 tundra should surly not break a sweat

Good find on the bucket, I think she'll clean up nicely. Love to see these resurrected and not buried.

I know the feeling! I got the runner so I dont have to beat on my 95 Toyota Pickup. I just went to stout for a year but am now in Eau Claire. I have a few wheelin spots down here so you gotta hit me up. My roomate/buddy lived in a-town and went to stout with me. Did you go to North High? But seriously are you at stout now? I need people to go wheelin with me. He has a Danger Ranger and he goes sometimes.

I stay in Appleton in the summer I only go to Stout in the school year I move into Red Cedar Hall (if you know where that is) September 6 then I will definitly have to hit you up cause i was looking for wheelin spots there, I will just have to ditch the old 28in highway tires for a while and through the 31x10.50 m/t's on, not that big but they get me where i need to go with out breaking to much,
This last winter though I blew my front carrier on lake menomin doing some snow wheeling but she is fixed now
