Hey all. I finally got around do getting the lift on my truck. The rear are land cruiser coils that gave me about 3.75" and the front is 3".

I had to remove the rear bumpstops off the frame to get the spring compressor to clear when installing the new springs. Well... The bolts for each one broke off in the frame.

I was wondering if these were the bumpstops that I need to limit travel while flexing, or is it the ones in the springs that will contact first? I can get the bolts out and reinstall the bompstops if you guys with experience say they should be there.

Anyways... Here are some pics with the lift and 33" Bighorns that fit very nicely with minor trimming of the front valance and the rear flares.

I can't wait to try out some trails. I don't think I will get to try anything out till the chicago toyota jamboree on the 24th. Hoping to do a little better than last year.

 

Looks good man, I'm not sure about the bump stops though. 1 of mine broke off (rusted off) and I have not had a chance to get the LC coils yet. I'm not sure what kind of issue you'll have with out them. I'm thinking the tires may rub, but with the LC coils you maybe alright.

 

what springs did you use up front?

 

Lift looks great and I like how you taped off around the lip of the wheel and painted the rest black. Looks just like a simulock style wheel!!

 

Not going to flame you, but will give some advice. You don't need to compress the coils to get them in. Jack the truck up and put the tallest jact stands you have on the frame just in front of the lower rear arms. Take the wheels off and let the pumpkin down almost to the ground. The old springs would pop right out and the LC coils would go in pretty easy as well. This is hind sight, but just a helpful hint. To complete the lift like most people you would use the bump stop bolts that broke. Not a big deal in my opinion. I have the LC coils on the back and didn't do anything with my bumpstops. Even at full droop I don't hit the stock bump stops or the inside coils. People will tell you that you will break the shocks without the bumpstops when they compress too hard, but I have been going for over two years with no problems. Just remember to drive smooth and you won't break parts.

Lift looks good, so go have some fun with it!

 

98.T4R, I used aluminum spacers in between the strut mount and frame. Not the most ideal way, but cost effective and I get the same ride but not the maximum flex.

GenXr, Thanks. I have another car with the bead of the rims polished and thought I would go for the same look with these rims. They turned out pretty decent for a $40 set of rims.

Trollcruiser, I did the lift on a hoist at work. My buddy literally hung on the end of the axle, and we could not get the springs in without using the spring compressor. I had the shocks off and the swaybar links disconnected. I guess he wasn't heavy enough.
