wont run after intake manifold removal

the truck is a 91 v6, with an auto trans, had to replace the coolant bypass hose that runs under the intake manifold. after i put everything back together and went to turn it over it just cranked for about 10 seconds. I expected this because of the removal of the fuel rail and all. After another 10 seconds it finally started but just sputtered and died. The one thing i noticed is the fuel line that goes into the top front right hand side of the fuel pressure regulator was about to burst from all the fuel pressure built up inside it. I took the hose off and fuel sprayed everywhere. I have no idea what could cause this, anyone have this happen before?
