I did my timing chain this weekend, as well as all the seals and gaskets, and metal chain guides. I'm sure glad it's done!

I put everything back together and she fired right up... but now my warm idle is about 1000-1100rpm as opposed to the 750-800rpm it was before.

I adjusted the idle screw to bring the idle back down, it took a little more than 1/2 turn to bring it back down to 750.

I'm assuming my timing is slightly off. The engine runs really great, no flat spots while accelerating hard. I've driven it about 100 miles since and I think my gas mileage is a little worse - from about 19.5 average to about 17.8 now.

So - do i just need to get a timing light on it and adjust my dizzy? Should I adjust my valves first?

Adjust vavles and check timing. If you've lowered it back to where it needs to be, and have no problems with it that way, don't worry about it.
