I recently installed an oil pressure gauge and was rather startled when I saw that at idle the oil pressure was between 6-9psi (hot). I know its still above spec for the 5VZ-FE but IMHO anything below 15 at idle on a engine is too low.

I run mobile one 10W-30 synthetic and have since I bought my 4runner new and I now have 220K miles (90% of them hwy miles).

Since I live in a pretty hot climate (Houston) I was looking at switching to Mobile One's 0W-40 or 5W-40 oil to get a bit more pressure.

What oil weights is everyone running and is anyone running or have tried heavier weight oils ?

 

ur oil pressure is fine

quit worrying. the 5vz is a bombproof motor

anyhow 5-30 mobil 1 is fine.
