I recently purchased a used 08 4runner with the understanding that it was an sr5 model 4x4 but the carfax report lists this as a sport model and when I reported the vehical to my insurance it came up as a sport model as well. The dealership listed and sold this to me as an sr5 and the logo on the door says sr5 4x4. is there a difinative way to tell which model i really ended up with?

 

My best advice is to cross-check the features you got versus the 2008 spec's:

Though essentially based on the SR5, the Sport model has some features that are peculiar to itself.
