I am planning on rebuilding the rear suspension on my pickup. Currently the rear is completely stock save for the lift blocks. I want to change the stock leaf springs out for some 3" lift leaf springs and remove the blocks. I know that I will have to relocate the hangers locations to accommodate the new springs, so I already plan on using the Total Chaos hangers for that. I still don't know what kind of leaf springs I should use or what kind of shocks. I don't want to spend more than $500 on any individual component. Any advice?

 

you might want to check out downey leaf springs. http://downeyoff-road.com/Suspension...s/1986-95.html I have their 2" springs on my truck and love them, but they do make 3" springs which do not require you to move the hanger or the shackle position.

 

Check the junkyard.
Lots of springs and hangers there.
Some junkyards will let you bring a saw in with you, ask first to make sure. You don't want to be banned.
U-Bolts are like $8 a piece custom made. Go to a place that makes springs. They'll bend them right there for ya. If you go to a fastener shop (fastenal or whatever) you can expect to pay around $16-$20 a piece for something that may not quite be what you need. You'll need four. You do the math.

 

If I can find a good set at a junk yard I will definitely hit one, but I would rather use new parts when possible.
