Light Laws in PA

I'm looking at getting some lights for my 4Runner. In PA the law says that all off-road lights must have cover on them, while driving lights can only be on with the highbeams. Here are the two link I go that from: http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/06...5/s175.66.html http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms.../chapter43.pdf.

So my main question is what would be considered a driving light and what would be considered an off-road light?

My guess would be wether or not it has an off-road sticker on the light or if it has a DOT approved sticker.

I never ran covers on any of the "off-road" lights on any of my trucks. Never had a problem with state or local.

Do you live in a more rural area? Right now I do, and I doubt that any cops would care. But, I'm going to Penn State in Altoona next year, since it's a much bigger city I've been thinking that they might not be as easy going.

I run 4 front lights on my rollbar; they must be coverd. I run 2 rear lights on rollbar, they are not covered but their operating switch must have an indicating light that shows they are on. I have 2 front driving lights and 2 front fog lights. The fog lights can be operated when my low beam headlights are on and the driving lights operate when the low beam headlights are on. When I operate the driving lights the fog lights automatically shut-off and vice a versa. The law in Pennsylvania is that only two auxiliary lights are allowed on the front. None of my front lights are covered and I have never had trouble with vehicle inspection nor have I ever been pulled over for a ticket because of my auxiliary lighting.

Yes, but i travel to Philly alot, also went to school in a city. Drove past the State Police every day no problems (did for rear bumper height once tho )

I think the code is more (ie. enforced) for roll bar lighting than bumper mounted lights tho.
