Body Lift Delima...HeLp

I'm debating on whether or not to get a body lift. I have a custom rockware front bumper, but I don't want to loose the strength of it any (you'll see what I mean when you see the pics) I was mainly going to get the BL to clear a little larger tire. There are four places where the bumper mounts at in the front. All of the mounts would have to be redone w/ custom ones. I'm just afraid that if I lift the mounts any higher I would lose lots of strength from the front. Any suggestions on how I can make this work or is it totally impossible? I've heard it can be done with the proper fabrication, but I'm still kinda weary. Here is a pic of the right mounts.

Data, I guess you are wanting to raise the bumper the keep it aligned with the grill with a BL. With the correct modifications to the brackets, I'm sure it can be done, without loosing strength.
But I must say, It's already one of the sharpest Runners out there! I especially like the bumper. I've seen it a couple of times on other post, and was curious as to what kind it was.

Yeah I was wanting to raise it along with the body lift so I don't have this huge 3" gap Strength is my main concern in the whole BL ordeal. Oh yeah, thanks for the compliments! The bumper is made by rockware. Rockware

I would pass on the body lift. More "issues" than gains. The 1" one is OK. But still has a few things to deal with.

Why do you need to go higher?

What kind of issues are associated with a body lift of that height (3") ? I was just wanting to run a little bigger tire and thats about it.

SELL, the word you are trying to use is SELL. I had to say something because you say SALE when it should be SELL every time (which is often) you have something FOR SALE.

I know a few of the issues that I'll have to deal with are the extension of various brackets and hoses, but other than that I don't know what else there is to do. What other issues would I face lifting it 3" ?

At 3" you will have to modify your shifter linkage, probably trim some of the floor so the shifter levers won't hit, deffinatly will have to legnthen your steering shaft. Maybe fuel filler neck extention and brake line bending. All of these reasons are why I had Roger Brown make a 1.5 inch body likt for me. 2 inches would mean floor triming and longer steering. 1 inch isn't enough to be worth the trouble.

I was going to suggest suspension lift but I see you already have adjustable Coil Overs.

I forgot the whole bumper issue. I would suggest having longer plates welded onto the existing frame mount endplates and a pair of heavy gussets (triangle braces) welded vertically onto each taller framerail endplate mounting face. Same thing for the round tube bracing arms. Weld a taller plate onto the endplates and bolt to the frame in 4 places rather than 2 on each side.

If I have confused you about what I invision for the bumper mounts I'll try to use your picture and draw on it to illustrate. The bumper would still be removable by taking out the bolts.

Spare tire won't work either. Front bumper will no longer be strong. Lengthen shifters & gas tank wires.

A better question is will the steering rack hold up with 35's. My bet is not for the long haul.

I didn't want to run any 35" er's. I was just wanting to run a 305/70/16 or 33x12.50x16. I think both are equivalent to each other, but I'm not sure. Hrmmm........

I've been doing some research and found out that the 285 seems to be close with the 305. Here is what I've found

285

Diameter - 32.8
Section Width - 11.2
Section Height - 8.4

305

Diameter - 32.8
Section Width - 12
Section Height - 8.4

So they just seem to be wider. Hell I might not need a BL after all to run these tires.

I doubt it. The ATS arms shot the 285's out an inch on each side and I'm fine at the mighty 2" even.
