only looking one front hub for 4wd, will you 3wd or only 2wd still

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.
only looking one front hub for 4wd, will you 3wd or only 2wd still
me and and my dude where going up a big hill and he had trouble locking on eof his manual hubs, so he was wondering if you only locked one of the of the front hubs locked with you have 3wd will one front tire engaged and the other not or does it not matter unless both front hubs are locked?

if the front is open diff, i.e. stock / not locked or not LSD, one wheel will slip regardless of whether the other wheel is locked or not.
and if the hub on that other wheel is or isn't locked it won't make a difference one way or another.

ok i get it. so you have to have them both locked or you get nothing up front. makes sense. dont hate on me im drunk

no, having them both locked doesn't mean much.
Say you're crossing a stream at a 45 angle and the front left loses traction and the right rear looses traction: that means you're not moving anywhere since 1/2 your torque goes to the front and 1/2 goes to the rear by default / by design. If the differentials are 'open' (front AND rear) the wheels that can spin will spin and you'll go nowhere. And given that case it won't matter if your front hubs are locked or not.
Make sense?

With an unlocked front hub, all the power that is sent to the front end is gonna be sent to the unlocked wheel. Since it obviously spins with least resistance...

Yeah, AFAIK if you unlock a front hub on an open differential you will have -0- front wheel action since the unlocked axle will have the least resistance, getting the power but not being able to transfer it to the wheel.
