New back bumper for my 96 runner

So I finally got around to building a new back bumper the other weekend. Mine had the usual rust and then some. It was to the point that I could make new holes in the rust with my fingers. So myself and a couple of buddies spent about 19 hours designing and building something that I liked. I had thought about just buying a bumper, but I live in Canada. If you don't know why that matters just look into shipping and duty and exchange. So here are the pics.

If anyone can give me a better way to put up pics please feel free. The only way I can figure out is to do three at a time.

Oh yeah, the reason I did not post this in the fab shop area is that I did not go into detail about the fab. I mostly just wanted to show people the end result and maybe give someone else some ideas. If the mods think this should be posted elsewhere, please feel free to move it.

Nice job! Might be a little close to the body but it is WAY better than the stock. That thing looks Bomb Proof.

Very nicely done. You and your buddies have some good fab skills. Custom rear bumpers are the way to go.

Nice job on the rear bumper.

Kind of looks likea hybrid version of the BruceTS and Sonoran Steel bumpers.

nicely done

particularly for a first effort

Material cost wise would you venture a guess what you have into it?

Material wise I get my buddies price on steel so it was less than $70!

How does it bolt up?

I have been shopping around for a rear bumper but wanted one that was close to stock (exactly like you have) and not tubular. Awesome job!

Hey BoostinChick, I bolted it up using the hitch bolts since I took it off and put a hitch right in the bumper.

Your going to want to put a few spacers between the frame and the mount to bring the bumper down a little. If you off road any you run a high risk of damaging the rear quarter panel sheet metal. The bumper looks excellent. Great design and lines.

Looks great. It gives me some ideas on how I need to finish mine.
