hello everyone first timer here on yotatech! I have a 2002 4runner and would like to make a custom safari rack for it. I want to make a full one that goes all the way to the front with a hole cut out for the sunroof. I was thinking using the black mesh metal paneling stuff. Has anybody seen anything like this or have any feedback??

just buy a cheap roof rack, like the one from discount ramps

thats the rack i have, just the small version, and it has been tested, by me standing in it. loading it with all my tools, recovery gear, scuba tank for an air supply, two chairs and a bow saw. then me standing on it again while strapping everything down. then wheeling with it loaded. i cant complain.

whitey, is that your truck, cuz thats a clean azz rig.

 

No sir it is not. I love that long travel suspension though.

If you have the means to make your own, materials are cheap. I've been interested in making one as I would like one that goes the full length as well, post pics when you get done if you don't mind!

BTW.. I'm heading to Destin on Friday for a little vacation time!
