Car wash and open, hot headers

that's why I said to let it idle down after driving it to the car wash, so things will cool down a bit. should be fine though. I've pressure washed with hot cast turbo manifolds (my 84 chrysler laser) without cracking them so this should be fine.

Dont shoot directly at it with cold water, you will get away with it for a while but eventually something will crack. Rapid contraction of one part (the part shot with water) and the other part still hot = bad ideer.
Wash the exterior first and maybe mist the header with some overspray a little before you spray anywhere near it

if your taking it thru a car wash that you leave the truck running it may not be a great idea, i know for a fact that on some drag cars i had (always open headers) if cold air hits hot valves you could worp some valves

considering that unless the headers are short tube without any exhaust piping, the chances of cold air hitting an exhaust valve are nil.... since there's very little reversion occuring- it's not like the engine could suck cold air all the way from the exhaust tip back up to the engine.

I drove to the exhaust shop with my headers like that. Sounded horrid and I was embarassed to be driving it.

I've washed my engine bay several times with no problems. You just gotta be smart about it and not pull in directly after hotrodding, pop the hood and shoot directly at the hottest part of the engine.
Drive easy as you get close and let it cool down a bit and as others have said, wash the exterior first to give it more time to cool.
