i was considering this:

http://www.maperformance.com/glowshi...ure-gauge.html

Bit it says:

"The sending unit can be mounted directly into the transmission pan. Note: If you have a drain plug in your transmission pan with a 1/8npt fitting, sending unit will work there."

Does my 4Runner have that fitting. When I use a ratchet is 9/16.
I'm not really car smart what-so-ever, just trying to see if my Tranny slipping is at all related with the fluid temperature. And the oil temperature gauge, well why not add it while I'm under the beast.

Though I don't know the size of the fitting on the 4Runner, I can tell you for sure that the 1/8npt adapter won't fit.
Virtually all of the bolts, nuts, etc., on your vehicle are metric.
Though your 9/16" ratchet may fit, it only "kinda" fits as the head is metric.
You really should get a set of metric wrenches/sockets, etc.

are your tranny cooler lines hooked up correctly? Make sure of that first...how many miles are on that auto tranny?

Not sure if the ATF cooler lines are hooked up, wouldn't know how to check.

Also, the tranny has 273k

Transmission fluid appears to be darker than usual but still has a red tint.

I would recommend putting the sensor in the cooler line. More info here:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/t...nifold-152844/

This is the gauge I use (12 volt one of course): http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult3.asp...=EVA_R&Units=E They also sell green bulb covers so they will match our green light instrument clusters.
