Just finished up my LC and bj spacer lift. It was a pretty easy install besides that many minor inconveniences we ( me and my friend). Like the pan hard bar bolt which we took an 8 lb sludge hammer to and nothing. And another big one was the hyper extended inner CV joint. But after all said and done I realized that these 31's look puny on the 4runner . Haha, but here are some pictures.


That is the new coil out of an 97 LC.


My friend and I putting them in with the help of some coil spring compressors which makes everything easier. But with the new ones we had to take a ratchet strap so we could re-adjust the compressors.


That was the hyper extended CV joint, which was creating suction which wasn't allowing us to push it back in. But once we disconnected the boot clamp, it slid right in.


All said and done.


Rear with new coils, shocks and panhard bar drop bracket.




New shock and BJ spacers and the sway bar drop spacer.

And new to be installed is my 1" diff drop so I can use 4 wheel drive and not tear my boots (hopefully).

Also, what engine do you have?

 

How nessesary is the panhard drop? I have LCCs and no panhard drop.

 

it's actually rather important- the panhard rod helps keep the rear axle from shifting side-to-side when side-loads are applied to the chassis (i.e. when cornering), which helps keep the rear axle perpindicular / rear wheels parallel to the frame and not adversely affect steering and handling.

i have two inch coil spacers in the rear of mine with no panhard bar drop and u can deff feel the ass end roll in the corners im running 33x12.50 with minor rub on mine

yeah man def get the km2 they are a great tire i just got mine great on the road after i get rubbing taken care of ill see how they do offroad

Haha ya that was the first thing my friend and I said, Those tires look puny. Good thing im getting paid on monday, enough to finally get some tires. Ya RoBatt let me now how those tires handle off road. And has anyone bought tires from tirepackage? And idk yoder519 I think it just looks a lil higer cause the small tires haha.

 

even when i had 31s on mine woth the same lift your looks higher. oh well. if i was you i would get 33 10.50s. i have 33 12.50s and there a little to wide for me. my next tire will be a 34x10.50 ltb swamper

 

Did you do anything with the brake lines or the e-brake lines? I just put a set of LC coils on lastnight and my brake lines were getting yanked pretty bad at full droop. Enough to make me take them off and put my stockers back on. They maxed out my shocks which made it ride horrible so that was another reason I took them out. Gotta wait for new shocks, brake lines and panhard drop before I can run those monster coils.

 

They're very used (1/4 tread or so), but they don't handle any worse than the 33's i took off that had quite a bit more tread. I do have a wandering problem at moderate speeds (not as noticeable at highway speeds nor slow speeds), but it just hasn't bothered me enough to do anything about it - yet.

I'm building a 92 and for that one I will probably use 255/85R16's. They are my favorite tire size for our 4runners if you're willing to get different rims for another 1/2" of ground clearance over a 33x10.50, lol.

The only issue I see with you going with 33x10.50's (and it may not be an issue to you) is that, from what I've read over the years, you didn't even need a lift for that size.

 

You can always measure your axle centering and the heights of the ends of the panhard bar and see:

Biggest problem you can run into is if the axle is pulled too far to the passenger side under full droop causing the drive shaft to make contact with the gas tank skid plate.

 

Ya I got an extended brake line from marlin crawler. You can see it in the 5th picture ( its the red line), and i didn't do anything with the brake line. And I know i didn't have to lift her to run 33's but I really wanted to fix the saggy rear end and I just like the looks of 4runners lifted.
