Matt16, Aussie question for you

You're running what 75-140 in your rear? I changed over to 85-90 when I did the switch in the 4runner from the pickup and have noticed something. If I'm easy on the skinny pedal going around a corner I can hear it ratchet as if it's not locked. If I "goose" it it'll lock up and push the rig to the outside of the turn. It locks up great off road and in a straight line but sometimes if I'm driving like a grandmother and punch it it'll quick lock and push to one side or the other. Acts like a Detroit once in a while.

I have about 10,000 miles on the locker from the install in the truck and can't figure if it's the lighter weight fluid, the shorter wheel base of the 4runner or maybe just getting broken in.

Does yours do anything similar? Mine was on the tight end of the specs on the initial install.

Mine does it slightly, but it took the better part of a year before I noticed it and isn't very noticeable. Maybe your steering is excessively loose. I only noticed the locker lane change phenomenon after a wheeling trip where i toasted my idler arm bushings and had a tire leak.

I maybe move the steering wheel an couple inches when I shift gears to account for it- ie, nothing different than if i were hitting a medium sized pothole/ bump in the road. It has never pushed me out of the lane or anything.

It has never bothered me unless one tire on the rr axle was under-inflated, then its a bit ore significant.
