Hello all, I am new to this list and I have a 1990 4runner with an A/T. The O/D light flashes then goes away but there dosent seem to be a steady pattern except that it is progressively getting worse. While driving down the freeway it seems to kick in and out of O/D the rpm's change a couple of hundred then back into O/D? I had a lube shop change the fluid, that did not seem to help anything, the transmission does not seem to be slipping in any of the gears. Any ideas????

i had the same problem with my 1990 4 runner i couldnt figure it out for nothing! so i called a trans repair shop and they told me it might be a temp sensor! then i rememberd i took out my thermostat for the summer! and that was the whole problem she wasnt getting hot enough for overdrive to work! so i replaced my thermostat and now she runs like its a new
