Anyone have experience removing the bed on their Pickup?
The dealer said that there were just 4 bolts, which I was able to remove, disconnected the tail and plate lights, and disconnected the fill tube for the gas tank. I am trying to replace the sending unit. One of the tubes is dumping fuel now and I was told that dropping the gas tank was risky for damaging other parts of the rusty fuel line? I can't seem to pry the bed free. Any tricks?

Thanks toyota parts dude,
I finally found the bolts. We burnt them all off so I could get to my gas tank and lines, spare tire, drum brakes, etc. I am thinking about lifting the whole body 1" since the toyota replacement parts are about the same as the lift kit....I plan to order from Roger at [URL=http://4crawler.cruiserpages.com/4x4/ForSale/BodyLiftKit.shtml#PolyBushings]
Any other pointers, thoughts.
Thanks again,
-Roy

since your doing the 1 inch body lift you will have to extend your gas filler hoses so it attaches rite to the bed. i personally would get rid of the spare tire under the bed. the mud and stuff collects above your spare and rusts out the frame crossmember. just undue the 3 bolts and throw it away as far as you can
i got a 1986 4x4 i'm parting out the the frame is rusted from the spare.since you live in new york the rust is worse up there. i got 3 1990's and a 1993 all 4x4 for parts let me know if you need anything. i got 17 1988 and older trucks to

I don't think that you have to extend it, unless you want to. I put a 3" BL on my truck and all I did was loosen the hose clamps, and pulled the filler hose off a little bit (actually quite a bit) on both ends. Its a little tight but nothing to serious. I'm sure it wouldn't be real bad on a 1".

you new truck guys are lucky
you guys are lucky with the 89-95 trucks. on the 79-83 style ones you have to cut the hose and put a extension in it. they don't give you enough extra to play with:cry: thats why i figured you would have to do that on your newer ones. my friends 83 has the extension pipe and the 2 ones i'm parting out have it.
