Anybody know how long these are? I got some used manual hubs but I couldn't get the 10mm bolts so I don't know how long they are.

OK, you are looking for the bolts to mount the hub body to the rig, and not the turn dial part then?
Yes, the items on my page are for just the dial ring.

Check with Adam F if he still has his hubs from his old IFS, maybe he can measure one?

 

M6-1.0x16MM SS are the bolts that you need. I went and bought some already. They were $.67 for a package of 5. I would also get the #12 SS Washers. They were $.57 for a package of 5. This is at Lowes also.

But if you are still looking for the length, I just went out and measured my old bolts and they are 5/8" long.

Have you looked at the sides of the body to see if there are any hairline cracks from pounding on them to get the cone washers off? I'd like to know.

One a side note: I got my hubs painted with 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear coat. I used auto body paint in a can. They look great. I will post pics after I do the install next saturday.

Also I have another tip that I will post next Saturday but I will let you know about it. The write-ups say to use sand paper on a piece of wood to sand down the lettering on the hubs. I used a small file that I happened to have on a multi-tool knife. It worked great. I was able to sand them down so that I got shiny metal. Then I just put the clear coat on them. Just be careful about nicking the other paint while you are doing it (that happened to me a couple times).

I just used a small screw driver to flake off the paint from the lettering when I did mine, then shot them with clear coat.
Worked great.

Heh, that's who I bought them from . Actually, now that I look at what's in the box, I don't have the 6mm bolts, so maybe that's what he was talking about. I'll ask him about it.

AG, I haven't cleaned them up yet so I haven't looked at it. I'll take a look when I do, possibly tomorrow.

hmmmmmmm I dont know what bolts your talking about then. There are like 6 or 8 10mm bolts that hold the dial onto the hub body, and then there are 6 or 8 studs in the rotor that the hub slides onto and then you put 6 or 8 12mm nuts and cone washers onto them. Where are the 6mm bolts? Ive never seen any.

 

It's a quantity 6 for both. As far as the sizes, we are talking about the threaded part which is how you normally buy bolts, not the size socket it takes...

Hehe, so I need (12) M6-1.0x16MM bolts for the inner circle bolts, how about the outer circle? Do I need them or are they already on my ADD flange? If I need them are they the same size and what about the cone washers?

 

The "outer circle" are studs that come out of the hub that is attached to the rotor. You will use nuts for the studs that are already on your ADD hubs. You also already have the cone washers from your ADD hubs that you will use.

So all you really need are the bolts and washers for the inner circle.

 

Hey AG, I looked at the hubs and I don't see any cracks. I remember your original post on this and now that I know how the hubs work, I think you should return them. The hub body is going to take all the stress and any cracks will just make it explode. You don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Adam, I found your missing bolts, they're broken off in the hub body!

 

So that's where they went! (sorry )

FYI don't over tourque those bolts!
