passenger accomodation in truck bed - brainstorm?
Hi all,
I'm looking to set up a removable seat in the bed of 94 xtracab 4x4. I need to make it legal, and more importantly, actually safe. Here's what I have thought of so far:
first, a roll bar/cage that would protect bed passengers in the event of a roll; a properly installed seat or seats with some sort of detachment possible; and last, some kind of cover for the seating area that could keep passengers out of the weather.
I guess this sounds a little crazy, but I thought I would run it through the forum to see if anyone else has considered it, or had some good advice. This is for a one-time use--a lengthy, backcountry road trip in the summer.
I'll be kicking off a series of mods within a couple weeks, so I'll keep up with postings and photos. But this one seems like the most involved and potentially problematic, so...there you have it.
Thanks!

Sweet. And skeazy.
I see that this subject has come up before ( https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...up-bed-122724/ ), but it doesn't look like any clear conclusions were arrived at.
I also found this site: http://www.iihs.org/laws/cargoAreas.aspx
It sounds like things should be OK with the law man if seats are secured and seat belted. I will be passing through Canada, though. Any Canadians out there with input on this?
