I was putting on my Bj spacer lift last night.

I had a upper a arm jacked up and the jack slipped and my right hand pointer finger was crushed between the ball joint and the a arm

It created a deep but short gash on the inside of my hand near the tip of the finger. I went today and got an x-ray and sure enough it snapped. It didnt hurt that bad to me for some reason. But it isn't like i broke an arm or leg.

So now I have an appointment coming up with a hand specialist. If I severed a tendon they have to wait until it heals and then cut it back open and perform surgery on it.

Even though I have this injury I will still work on my truck. lol. I love it way too much!

So what injuries has everyone else had while working on their truck or runner?

one time I pulled a spark plug wire and got shocked... and jumped about 10' back. This was back in 85... Otherwise, I've never been hurt when working on my trucks... cars... well any vehicle I've owned.

 

i cut myself frequently when working with the sheet metal

 

Lol. I feel kind of dumb and like people probably think I don't know how to work on cars. It was just an easy mistake and I just didn't use my head. lol. I'm just so thankful my finger didn't get entirely cut off.

Thats crazy about getting launched back 10' lol. thats pretty insane. Must have hurt.

i cant work on my truck or 4wheeler without drawing blood for some reason. it i thought to put my mechanix wear gloves on before i hurt myself, ib be in good shape. ive sustained some pretty good bruises too. and one time while workin on a dirtbike (not my truck but close enough, i caught my finger between the sprocket and chain, that hurt. luckly it wasnt on i was just doing something and moving the wheel with my hand. thats the worst pain ive ever felt.

 

i cant even do an oil change on my 4runner without getting a bloddy knuckle or a small cut

 

I almost lost a finger to a flex fan once on my 82 Monte that I built a 4 bolt main for... gotta good scar on my right ring finger from that one, lol. not too long after that, I ditched the flex fan and went dual electric

and then once I had my hand crushed under the transmission of my old 88 Izusu PU when I was replacing the clutch; couldn't get the trans to break free from the block after all the bolts were removed, so I crawled underneith, and my dumb ass grabbed the bottom of the trans and tried to shake it side to side... well, it let loose, and came down on my hand... my hand was numb for a week... seriously...

on my Yoter though, about the only thing I've done is bloody up a few nuckles breaking free some bolts that have been locked in place for almost 20 years

I too have since started using Mecanix gloves, and that helps out a lot!

 

Reminds me when i used to work at a body shop. We were replacing some bed side on this truck, it was cut off the side to be replaced, i was dragging it to the metal bin and i had it almost all the way in and the back end slipped out, dragging the front end and my hand with it, i should of let go but i wasnt thinking. Well I thought i was ok and jsut a scratch so i finished putting the bed side back in the metal bin. Well i started to feel my hand get really warm, i looked at it and it was covered in blood.

well i ended up with 3 good size cuts on my hand. But i got 2 paid days off for it.


As for getting hurt on cars, nothing that bad besides getting my knuckles messed up.

 

oh, and a had a radiator cap fail in my face once... that was, interesting to say the least...

that sucks. i hope i never experience that. i have burnt my hand with oil during a change though. thats another thing i do alot, burn myself. the gloves help that some too. if i remember to put them on.

 

Lmao. I never learn with radiators. Even though I know I've probably taken off the radiator cap when my truck was hot about 5 times in my lifetime. It's just one of those things that makes me stupid. lol.

 

years ago i cut myself while installing speakers into the doors of a 94 yota pickup. i was pushing to hard with a stanley knife and the blade broke off. the broke off blade slashed my pointer finger between the first joint and palm almost an inch. fat tissue was falling out. doctors could not stitch it up, they just trimmed the fat. i then had to go back to work and do the next door. does anyone else feel sick? i only get normal nics and scatches working on my own vehicles.

I did that once about 7 years ago burned my rite arm and part of my face pretty bad but that was on a biuck (my bad). lol

 

worst was attempting to install my lameass lower valence. Lying underneath my car trying to hold it with one hand and bolt it in with the other, and then just a gash through all my fingers.

I think ive cussed every piece of my car out now

btw i never got the lower valence installed

haha, my pants, shirt, everything really, I was covered in burning antifreeze... that was horrible... I thought a little exhaust burn on the back of a hand was bad... try 195 degree water being sprayed all over your body... imagine steping into a hot, HOT shower, but not jumping out and just standing there... yep, that's kinda what is was like... and I had that feeling for a week...

lol, their so deceptive... you can start to take them off slowly, and you don't hear any hissing, no water leakage, and it doesn't even feel like there's much pressure on it, but once you get it off far enough, it get's to that point and the $#!@ sprays everywhere, lmao

but that wasn't the case in my happening... the cap, for some strange unknown reason, just blew off the radiator! it wasn't on one of my vehicles, it was a friends Hawn-duh...
