Wilderness Roof Racks on sale at 4x4 Connection

This is not a commercial ad or endorsement, but I thought I would pass along the sale I just saw on their website.

4x4 Connection has their Wilderness Roof Racks on sale, up to 20% off. I just ordered mine for $373, including floor and mounting kits.

They told me there is a backlog on the orders, but for that price I'm willing to wait.

Man, even the sale price is way higher than what you could pay for a similar rack. I didn't look too closely after I saw the price, but what makes them worth all the extra $$?

That's as low as you'll find it online, at least it was last year when I got mine. I ended up getting mine locally for $370 as I recall, as the shop had a 10% off coupon. Good lookin' out, though.

Tom, what similar rack(s) are you referring to? The Con-Ferrs are the only other thing that appear to be just as strong, but I'm not sure what their price is. Surco is the only other one I'm familiar with, but it is not as rigid.

Your right, there are cheaper racks available, but I wanted a Wilderness rack. I've looked at most roof racks and they're either not as rigid/strong as the Wilderness rack or sit up way too high on cross bars. I'm limited on the total height of my rig since I keep it in the garage, the Yakima/Thule combo was too high.

I bought the wilderness rack and it was worth every penny. I'm really glad I purchased it. It is very, very strong and ridig. The weight of the rack isn't too bad either. I've gotten up there many of times and I weigh 200lbs. No probs or complaints from me. I love this thing!

Roadrunner-

The Wilderness rack listed on 4x4 Connection site doesn't mention anything about foot/tower packs?!? The Wilderness "sport rack" listed for the 4Runners gives you two selections: 'Track mounted' or 'Factory rack mounted'.

Does the 'Track mounted' option come with feet that will fit into my '01 factory guides (the ones that are bolted into the roof)??
My '01 as a factory rack, but the flimsy factory cross bars suck...

As I understand, the included mounting kit will secure the rack to our factory roof rails. I haven't picked mine up yet, so I am going by memory. Possibly someone else can confirm this.

Yes, they mount to the factory rails. I couldn't tell you the difference between the two mounting options though as I hadn't heard of that. I thought the only options to choose from were the 4 and 6" heights.
