Help! I did something stupid... Brake Lights/Shifter problem

So like many others I got the LED tails and 3rd light.

When I was attempting to install the LED brake light, the wires touched, sparked and I think effed something up.

Now my break lights dont work and my shifter is stuck in park.

I have checked fuses, I don't see any broken. I need a solution to this.

I have read that this is some kind of shifter solenoid. I need my car for class and work. PLEASE HELP ASAP ! THANKS!

3 fuses to check:

10A stop
15A ACC
10A ECU-IG

In case you cannot figure it out..you can bypass the shifter lock,by prying up the little shifter cover(little black cover forward of the shifter),and then depressing it with a screwdriver or pen, ect(white plastic piece under the cover)

dont visually inspect the fuses check the continuity of them and check to c if there is voltage on both sides of the fuse

I will check these fuses again. I do not have a voltmeter...should I go get one at walmart or something to check continuity?

I tried to bypass the lock, it still wont move. Maybe I'm not pushing hard enough on the little white thing.

Thanks for the swift replies, I need to get my car working tonight for work and school tomorrow!

Yeah, I can't get it out of park at all. Even after pushing on the manual release, it won't move.

It's like the manual release is locked down.

I don't think I'm not doing it right because I have used it before when installing other electronics.

How could such a serious problem arise just from attempting to install a damn brake light?

I'm going to get new fuses and a voltmeter now. Thank for your help.

little side note disconnect the battery when doing that kind of work if u can get ahold of dmm i can give u some wiring diagrams to help and a voltage chart should help in the diagnosis period another quick test bypass the brake light switch c if that works after u have properly checked the fuses

I'm getting new fuses and a tester now. I will update on what happens. How would I bypass the switch?

Not really even sure what to check once I have the meter. Ill be back in a few, thanks again.

depends on how many wire switch it is if its two u just jump them together once u get the dmm u can pull the fuses out check for resistance in the ohm function if it says 0 your good if not its bad once u do that we will get into the more complicated tests

Got the DMM. Now I should be checkign for 12v across these fuses right? And 0 ohms. I'm going to do this now, and replacing them all.

Finally got it!!!! I feel stupid, but finally found that it was a fuse.

I replaced all the interior, and several under the hood and still nothing.

And then I checked resistance and all was good, and then I took apart the shifter area trying to locate the brake switch solenoid.

Then I checked the fuses again and found............................................. ........

I must have picked up an old fuse or one of the new ones was bad, but I replaced the three main fuses again, and bam im in reverse!

Thank you very much for your help! I'm glad to have my car back...and some new lights!
